Some girls go through very painful menstrual cramps during their monthly periods. These are five ways to soothe the pain with food items you probably already have at home:
Ginger tea is very good for menstrual cramps. It has been scientifically proven. It can also be used to treat stomach upsets, bloating, indigestion and nausea. Drinking two cups of ginger tea, morning and evening everyday is a very healthy practice.
Ginger tea is easy to make at home, just buy fresh ginger from the market, you peel it, cut it into small slices, you crush it a little, put it in a tea cup, boil water and pour in the cup, leave the boiled water with the ginger in the cup for 5 minutes, you drain the water, put in another tea cup and drink. The quantity of ginger would depend on how hot you want the tea to taste. The hotter, the better though. You can add honey as a sweetener. You can also squeeze some lime or lemon juice to give an extra spicy flavor if you want.
Drinking hot water, also helps to soothe cramps. Hot water increases blood flow to the skin and hence it does relax cramped muscles. Also eating lots of water based fruits will help, like watermelon.
It has high levels of carotene and vitamin C, which make it a great fit to reduce menstrual pains. It is also good for digestion and the skin.
